Abstract

Aplatic anemia is frequently caused by chemical compounds. Penicillin is one of those
chemical compounds, but ampicillin is rarely reported to cause aplastic anemia.
Recently, we experienced a case of aplastic anemia in a patient with Sheehan's
syndrome associated wilt ampicillin treatment for shigellosis and bronchitis.
Discontinuation of ampicillin treatment and replacement therapy for Sheehan's
syndrome was followed by improvement of aplastic anemia.
